Ursula K. Le Guin
American · 1929–2018
Ursula K. Le Guin was an American author best known for her science fiction and fantasy, much of it set in the Hainish universe (The Left Hand of Darkness, The Dispossessed) or the Earthsea archipelago. Her shorter work includes the parable The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas. Her work foregrounds anthropology, anarchism, gender politics, and Eastern Taoist thought, and she is widely credited with pulling speculative fiction toward literary seriousness.
