Philosophy of art
The branch of philosophy concerned with the nature of art and aesthetic experience — what makes something art, how we evaluate it, what distinguishes good art from bad, and what role it plays in human life. Key questions include the relationship between artist intention and meaning (see also death of the author), whether aesthetic judgements are objective or subjective, and how art relates to truth, moral knowledge, and beauty.
