Jordan Peterson

Canadian · b. 1962

Clinical psychologist and former University of Toronto professor who built an early online following with long, careful lectures on the psychological function of myth and religion — including a much-loved series on Dostoevsky and the great Russians. He became a global culture-war figure from 2016 onward via his stance on compelled speech and the bestseller 12 Rules for Life, then a near-fatal benzodiazepine dependency and treatment in Russia. His Dostoevsky-shaped reading of life — clean your room, take responsibility, beware the seductive utopian — sits behind a lot of contemporary "trad" thinking.
