Sam Harris

American neuroscientist, philosopher, and podcaster, best known for his critiques of religion and his work on consciousness, meditation, and rationality. A leading figure in the New Atheist movement of the 2000s alongside Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Daniel Dennett, he later became known for the Waking Up meditation app and the Making Sense podcast. He spent several years in his twenties studying meditation under teachers in India and Nepal before completing a PhD in cognitive neuroscience.
