Gabriel García Márquez

Gabriel García Márquez was a Colombian novelist, short-story writer, and journalist, widely regarded as the foremost exponent of magical realism. His best-known work, One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967), traces seven generations of the Buendía family in the fictional town of Macondo and became one of the most celebrated novels of the 20th century. Other major works include Love in the Time of Cholera (1985) and Chronicle of a Death Foretold (1981). He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982.
